Reminder to Submit for IRB Continuing Review in eIRB System
IRB protocols with approval that expires between September 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011 (i.e., protocols scheduled for continuing review during those dates) have been transferred into the eIRB system. Investigators must log into the eIRB system at https://eirb.slu.edu/ to view the active protocols and to complete the continuing review form. Note that HUD and NCI CIRB protocols were excluded from the transfer, so continuing review may need to occur outside of the eIRB system (on paper).
Because of considerable differences between the old IRB database system and the eIRB system, only limited existing protocol information was transferred into eIRB (IRB protocol number, PI name, study title, approval and expiry date and, for some protocols, an administrative contact). Thus, at time of continuing review, investigators must complete the entire eIRB protocol form and attach applicable study materials, such as consent forms. Specific instructions appear in the eIRB continuing review form.
Until protocols are converted to and approved as an electronic protocol in eIRB, amendments and safety reporting on pre-existing protocols should be submitted using paper forms. Pre-existing protocols can be closed using the paper closure form or in eIRB using the Final Report form. Once a protocol has been converted to and approved as an electronic protocol at time of continuing review, all subsequent submissions for that protocol must be in eIRB.
