Background: I am a broadly trained applied statistician. I started my professional career in agricultural research in Nepal. After completing a master's degree, I worked as a biometrician and as a statistics lecturer for a few years. I completed my PhD from Oklahoma State University in 2006, and was provided an opportunity to be involved in medical research. I spent two years as a statistician in Division of Cardiology at University of Colorado in Denver before moving to Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) at Harvard University School of Public Health in Boston. I worked at CBAR for three years in collaboration with HIV/AIDS researchers and other biostatisticians on NIH funded clinical trials. I then joined the faculty at SLU School of Nursing in Fall 2011.
Teaching: I teach online and on-site courses on applied statistics in the PhD in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. These statistics courses are intended to prepare the graduate students in research design and data analysis for their PhD dissertation research and DNP capstone projects, so that the gained skills on research methods could be useful in their future career.
Consulting: I provide consulting services to faculty members and graduate students at the School of Nursing on design of randomized controlled trials and observational studies, data management, statistical analysis and interpretation of results.
Research: I conduct collaborative research with other faculty members at the school. I spend considerable amount of time working with the researchers on methodological section of research grant proposals, data collection strategies, data quality monitoring plans, performing statistical analysis of collected data, interpretation of study results, and write up of study reports and manuscripts related to nursing and health outcomes research.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: I am a member of the American Statistical Association, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, Sigma Xi, Gamma Sigma Delta and Xi Sigma Pi. I have published and co-published in refereed agricultural and forestry journals, and co-authored in medical and nursing journals. I am interested in mixed-effects modeling and longitudinal data analysis.
