The department of neurology and psychiatry will host Joint Grand Rounds from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept.15, in Lecture Hall 1 of Schwitalla Hall at the School of Medicine. (Entrance is only through the Learning Resource Center).
Angela Sharkey, M.D. will present "Communications to Improve Performance." Sharkey is associate dean for faculty affairs and development at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and Professor of Pediatrics. Sharkey spent her career as a pediatric cardiologist involved in clinical research and medical education. She is an active member of the AHA Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young committee of mentoring, the AAMC Group on Women in Medicine and Science steering committee, and the Pediatric Heart Network research program on Marfan syndrome. In her roles as a medical educator and in faculty development, she has presented workshops on peer group mentoring, career advancement in academic medicine, feedback, understanding of self, and team function.
