The annual Saint Louis University Employee Wellness Fairs will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the St. Louis Room at Busch Student Center and Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Multipurpose Room at Doisy College of Health Sciences. The fairs' theme this year is "Carnival of Health."
Attendees will have a chance to visit with SLUCare physicians and nurses representing a diverse range of medical specialties; learn about SLU and SLU-related health programs including Delta Dental, Express Scripts, United Health Plan and Vitality (SLU's Wellness Program); and receive a flu shot from SLU employee health.
Vitality Checks, which are required for SLU employees to receive a discount on health insurance in 2012, also are available by appointment at the health fairs. Vitality Checks include height, weight and blood pressure measurements; and fasting cholesterol and glucose screenings. Appointments for Vitality Checks can be made by calling 314-977-3500.
Employees unable to schedule Vitality Checks during the health fairs will be scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of subsequent weeks in October and November.
All attendees can spin the "Ferris Wheel of Health" and be entered for a chance to win one of several door prizes, including a year-long membership to the state-of-the art Simon Recreation Center and a round of golf at the Courses of Forest Park.
Attendees who bring their Wellness Fair postcard to the Carnival of Health will receive 35 extra Vitality Points, and those who receive flu shots earn 200 Vitality Points.
The wellness fairs, held every fall, serve as a precursor to the Benefits Office's open enrollment period. SLU employees may attend either fair.
