The Student Success Center and the Department of Academic Support would like to encourage faculty to use the online Early Warning System for struggling or at-risk students.
The University's online Early Warning System allows faculty to notify academic advisors of a student who may be experiencing academic or other difficulties, so that the student's academic advisor can help connect the student with appropriate resources that will aid in their success at Saint Louis University.
In cases where the academic advisor may have difficulty in contacting the student, the Dean of Students may be asked for assistance in notifying the student. In addition, the student's faculty mentor may be notified as an additional source for assistance.
The goal of the Early Warning System is to ensure that all students are aware of and connected to campus resources that will enable them to be successful at the University.
Despite the name "Early Warning," it is never too late to submit a notification regarding academics or personal issues (i.e. student health and safety, transition, etc.).
Faculty have the opportunity and are encouraged at any point in the semester to log in and submit a warning. Links to the system are available on their Banner Self-Service class lists.
Complete the following steps to submit an Early Warning:
1. In Self-Service Banner, select "Class List: Summary"
2. Select term
3. Select class
4. Select student's name and click on the right hand "Early Warning" button.
5. Once you select "Early Warning," you will have the opportunity to select specific information and click "Submit."
