The Department of Communication will host a lecture, "New Communication Technologies, Social Support, and Health Outcomes: Promises and Pitfalls," on noon Wednesday, Oct. 12, in room 336 of Xavier Hall. This event is part of the Department of Communication Colloquium Series.
Kevin Wright, Ph.D., chair of the communication department, will discuss the current state of research on various new communication technologies and health outcomes with a particular focus on computer-mediated social support and support components of health campaigns. Toward that end, it will focus on various theories of social support, computer-mediated communication, health campaigns and empirical work that have assessed the impact of new technologies on specific physical and psychological health outcomes.
