ST. LOUIS - The Fall Institute for Private Business Seminar Series at Saint Louis University's Center for Entrepreneurship kicks off with guest speaker and Crate and Barrel founder Gordon Segal, Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Shanahan Atrium the University's John Cook School of Business, 3674 Lindell Blvd.

The event begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed at 8:15 a.m. by Segal's keynote and a Q&A session from 9:30-10 a.m.

The Fall series, Leadership Strategies for Private Business: A Barrel Full of (Silver) Dollars, continues Thursday, Dec. 15, with Herschend Family Entertainment founder Peter Herschend and president and CEO Joel Manby. The company owns entertainment venues across the country including Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo.

About Gordon Segal: In 1962, Gordon Segal and his wife, Carole, co-founded Crate and Barrel, a contemporary housewares store in Chicago's Old Town Neighborhood. Their goal was to bring the simple, well-designed tableware they had seen on their European travels to the United States for young couples like themselves, who had more taste than money. It was a innovative concept that many experts say transformed the American retail environment.
Today the company is a $1.2 billion, multi-channel home furnishing retail chain employing more than 8,000 associates.
