The Heartland Center for Public Health Prepardness will host a free webinar at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26. The topic for discussion is "Faith Community Nurses and Emergency Preparedness."
All communities, whether rural or urban, have at least one church, syna¬gogue, mosque, temple or other religious community. In times of disaster, members of the community or neighborhood look to the local religious community for guidance and support. This webinar will focus on the unique role that faith community nurses, who serve in local religious communities, have in assisting faith communities to respond to disaster.
Various strategies used by the faith community nurses will be explored during this presentation that can help the religious community before, during and after a disas¬ter. Self-care strategies for faith community nurses and other religious leaders working with disaster survivors will be discussed.
