Office of Research Development and Services (ORDS) is pleased to present the third faculty-led panel, "An Inside Look: The American Heart Association," from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Lecture Hall 1 of Schwitalla Hall on the Medical Center campus.
Please join us for a discussion featuring Saint Louis University principal investigators who will share their experience as reviewers and successful applicants, guiding others in the dos and don'ts for preparing competitive applications to the American Heart Association.
David Ford, Ph.D., Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Research will lead the discussion, joined by fellow panelists Jane McHowat, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Pathology, Angel Baldan, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Yuqi Wang, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Biology.
The goal of this session is to highlight key grantsmanship "to-dos" to best position projects for funding from the variety of grant programs offered by AHA, to include: Grant-in-Aid, Scientist Development Grants, Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships, Established Investigator Award and Innovative Research Grants. The Faculty panelists will share their thoughts on the qualities of competitive proposals and also discuss the peer review system. Attendees with similar experience are also invited to share recommendations and advice.
