Saint Louis University has secured a new vendor for emergency alert notifications: Rave Wireless, whose Rave Alert system is widely considered a leader in the industry.
SLU will test the new system this Thursday (Oct. 27) around 11 a.m.
The University will call home and cell phones with a brief message (The call will come from 314-977-2000). SLU also will send out texts to those who opted in for the service.
If you haven't verified that your contact information in Banner is correct lately or one of your numbers has recently changed, you are urged to log in and update your listings.
- To update your info, log into Banner Self Service (banner.slu.edu) and click on the "Personal Information" tab. On that page, click on the link near the bottom that says "Check if campus emergency event phone verified." Follow the prompts.
Because Rave offers greatly enhanced text messaging capabilities, students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to sign up for the service. (There's a check box at the bottom of the verification page in Banner.)
It's also important to remember that your contact information is confidential and will be used for emergency notification purposes only.
On Thursday, the University also plans to test other communication methods, including e-mail, digital signage in certain buildings and emergency messaging on the SLU website.
