Saint Louis University will be holding its first Dance Marathon from 3 p.m.-3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Wool Ballrooms in the Busch Student Center.
Dance Marathon the culminating event for a year-long effort to fundraise for Children's Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis, which is equally distributed to St. Louis Children's Hospital and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.
Saint Louis University's Dance Marathon supports the famous slogan, "we stand for those who can't," where students will stand for the 12 hours of the main event as an act of solidarity for the children treated by the hospitals.
More than 350 students have registered for the inaugural event. Over those 12 hours, students will learn a choreographed dance, play games, listen to entertainment acts and interact with the Miracle kids and families who have been treated at the local hospitals. More than 10 Miracle kids and their families plan to attend the event Saturday and will each have a chance to speak to the dancers.
Undergraduate and graduate registration is open until the day of the event and can be done online. For donation, volunteer and visiting information, please visit sludm.org. Faculty and staff are welcome to visit and can RSVP at the Dance Marathon website if interested.
