Non-SLU Approved Study Abroad Programs
Students may opt to participate in a non-SLU approved study abroad program, but Saint Louis University scholarships do not apply to non-SLU approved programs and coursework from these programs is considered transfer coursework.
TRAVEL REGISTRATION & PRE-DEPARTURE FOR NON-SLU APPROVED PROGRAMS
Students participating in Non-SLU Approved Study Abroad programs are requested to log in to their Billikens Abroad account to register their travel, complete the disciplinary record authorization, complete a Petition for Leave of Absence to Participate in a Non-SLU Approved Study Abroad Program, and provide emergency contact information.
PETITION FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE TO PARTICIPATE IN A NON-SLU APPROVED STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM
Students planning to study abroad through a non-SLU approved program must complete the Petition for Leave of Absence to Participate in a Non-SLU Approved Study Abroad Program. This form provides an opportunity for students to meet with their Academic Advisor/Department and Dean/Director to discuss the selected program, anticipated transfer courses, and gather the necessary approvals. This form also provides an opportunity for students to review and acknowledge the stipulations of participating in a non-SLU approved study abroad program.
ACADEMICS FOR NON-SLU APPROVED PROGRAMS
Students work directly with their academic advisor and each academic department or unit in which they would like to transfer in credit, regarding the transfer of the courses they intend to take abroad.
All coursework taken through a non-SLU approved study abroad program is transfer coursework. The grades from these courses will not factor into a student's GPA.
Students may review the Transfer Course Articulation process through the Office of the University Registrar webpage. Students should complete the Off-Campus Articulation Request Form for the courses they intend to take through a Non-SLU Approved Study Abroad program.
FINANCES FOR NON-SLU APPROVED PROGRAMS
Saint Louis University scholarships do not apply for non-SLU approved study abroad programs.
Students who do receive Saint Louis University scholarships must contact their Student Financial Services counselor to review and complete the Undergraduate Scholarship Deferment Request form available on the Student Financial Services webpage.
Students may also work with their Student Financial Services counselor to determine if they are eligible to complete a Financial Aid Consortium Agreement. A Financial Aid Consortium Agreement would determine if the student is eligible to use federal aid during his/her semester abroad.
Students who do not currently receive federal aid would not need to complete a Financial Aid Consortium Agreement.
