The research activity of the faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training include the following areas of investigation:
- Research studies in movement science seek to better understand normal and pathologic movement, leading to the development and testing of prevention and treatment strategies for movement-related problems.
- Research in the area of evidence-based practice designed to better understand how clinicians use evidence in clinical reasoning and to promote and evaluate the use of best-practices by clinicians.
- Educational research projects investigate the teaching-learning interaction with the intent of enhancing student outcomes in the classroom and clinic.
- Interprofessional education research examines the influence of the interprofessional education curriculum at Saint Louis University on the effectiveness of clinical practice and patient outcomes.
