The John Cook School of Business and the Business School Governing Assembly (BSGA) sponsored the 2nd annual Business Week from Feb. 13 -17. Business Week showcased the various majors offered in the business school and was open to students of all majors.
As part of the weeklong event, BSGA invited guest speakers from different business backgrounds, and hosted networking and social events to help students become more acclimated with the business school.
One such event was the "Dress for Success Fashion Show and Employer Panel," at which students modeled appropriate business attire ranging from casual to professional. Audience members got to see an array of outfits for both women and men, and at the end of the event there was an open forum with local St. Louis professionals.
Business Week ended with a lecture delivered by Saint Louis University alumnus and co-founder of Pi Pizzeria, Chris Sommers. Sommers spoke on starting his own business using key concepts he learned from his business classes at SLU and his opportunity to meet with President Barack Obama.
By all accounts, the second annual Business Week was a success.
"Our attendance numbers doubled, we reached out to our alumni, we got positive feedback from students and we got Pi Pizza to sponsor the whole week," said Nickpreet Singh, administrative vice president of BSGA. "I think we did an outstanding job compared to last year."
