The Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy was established in 1992 as the Department of Occupational Therapy. Initially, the program offered a freshman-entry baccalaureate degree in occupational therapy, and graduated the first class in 1996. In the spring of 2000, the University Board of Trustees approved the Department's proposal to establish a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Science (B.S.O.S.) degree and an entry-level Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T. degree). The first MOT graduates completed this new program in 2005.
