SLU PA students are required to become student members of the Missouri Academy of Physician Assistants (MOAPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). As student members of the AAPA they become active in the local chapter of the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA) known as the Saint Louis University Physician Assistant Society (SLUPAS).
All of our students also volunteer hours at the Health Resource Center.
The mission of Saint Louis University is the pursuit of truth for the greater glory of God and for the service of humanity. The mission of the Saint Louis University PA Program is to educate men and women to become competent, compassionate physician assistants dedicated to excellence in health care and the service of humanity. In support of the mission of the program and the mission of the University, service is an integral part of the SLU PA program. In addition to the provision of improved healthcare delivery and quality care for all patients, especially those most vulnerable, SLU PA students are also involved in various types of community service. Students easily attain our minimum of 12 service hours in a wide variety of service activities ranging from shopping for an elderly neighbor, tending to children in respite care and assisting at community health fairs to organized events like Make a Difference Day, the Open Doors Event and SLU's Campus Kitchen.
