ITS to Upgrade Oracle Enterprise System
A planned upgrade of the University's Oracle Enterprise System platform is scheduled to occur over the Memorial Day weekend beginning 5 p.m. Friday, May 25, through Monday, May 28. The Oracle System is what supports Banner, in addition to other applications.
The Oracle upgrade from version 10g to 11gR2 will impact the following platform components: Oracle databases, middleware and associated enterprise reporting components such as Oracle Streams, Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) and the Operational Data Store (ODS).
Banner INB and SSB system processes and other applications connected to Oracle databases will also be unavailable during that weekend. These systems are expected to return to production midday Monday, May 28, and full-reporting services via the ODS will return midweek. Customers who try to access Banner during the upgrade will be redirected to an informational message about the process.
This upgrade is necessary to keep Oracle back-end technology on the most current version to ensure product support and scalability, allowing continued delivery of a reliable product platform to the University.
