EXPLORE Quito, the capital of Ecuador, nestled in a long, narrow valley between the lush base of Pichincha, an active volcano, and the steep canyon of the river Machangara. Quito is generally thought of as South America's most beautiful capital city, with the incredible natural setting, classical architecture and modern structures. Discover the historic sites of Quito's old city and dozens of museums, visit hundreds of shops, cafes and restaurants, and take advantage of the plethora of excursions, hikes and climbs in the surrounding area. Although Quito lies just south of the equator, Ecuador's capital enjoys mild days and cool nights almost year-round. The climate is divided into two seasons, wet and dry.

Quito Study Center
The SLU Quito program is held at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador (PUCE), a Jesuit University located in the heart of Quito, Capital of Ecuador. PUCE has 15 schools in its main campus and approximately 10,000 students in its Quito, Ambato, Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Esmeraldas, Manabi and Ibarra campuses. PUCE was founded in 1946 and is well known for its high academic standards and for its work with the community.
Students live with Ecuadorian host families in private residences. To maximize your cultural experience, no double-rooms will be allowed. This is an ideal setting for students who would like to improve their Spanish language skills. The program fees include meals as well as laundry services.

In addition, a mandatory $250 international insurance fee per semester will be added to the student's account.

- Copy of valid, signed passport
- A letter from your doctor, on doctor's letterhead, stating that you have been found in good physical and mental health to travel to Ecuador, that you have been found free from any contagious or infectious diseases and that you are up to date with your immunizations.
