Under the medical direction of Saint Louis University Coagulation Consultants, Saint Louis University Hospital Coagulation Reference Laboratory offers a full range of routine and specialized tests for detailed, comprehensive evaluations of patients with inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, thromboembolic complications and inherited and acquired thrombophilic states.
The test menu reflects the current state-of-the-art in the hemostasis laboratory. Results are reported with general comments on test interpretation and limitations specific interpretation and recommendations for further investigation and/or patient management.
The Saint Louis University Hospital Coagulation Reference Laboratory and Coagulation Consultants are located at Saint Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. The central location makes delivery of specimens from the Midwest fast and convenient.

All routine coagulation tests and select specialty tests are available 24/7. Expedition of additional specialty coagulation testing during other times is available and requires consultation and approval by the on-call coagulation specialist.

Tests are performed on blood or plasma specimens sent from physician offices or institutions. Upon completion of the test, we will fax you a complete, easy-to-read report, including results and normal reference ranges.
Computer generated comments are provided on multiple evaluations with abnormal results, together with recommendations for additional follow-up testing. Please note that automated comments may not apply to specific clinical circumstance of the patient and do not replace physician interpretations. Clinical correlation by the provider is always required.
Formal interpretation is available from the medical coagulation specialist. The consultation report includes detailed bleeding or thrombosis history, if available, laboratory test results and interpretation and suggestions for follow-up testing or selection of appropriate blood products or pharmacologic therapy, if applicable. Prompt response to the requesting physician or laboratory is provided.
Client bills are processed monthly. Terms of payment are net 30 days. Questions regarding billing and charges should be directed to the Laboratory Administrative Director at (314) 577-8394.
The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists.
