Saint Louis University Names David Heimburger Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Saint Louis University has named David Heimburger vice president and chief financial officer. He had served as interim VP and CFO since October 2011. Heimburger's appointment follows a national search and is effective immediately.
"During his tenure at Saint Louis University, David Heimburger has demonstrated the qualities needed for this very important role," said University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J. "David has a proven record of success at SLU, and I am confident that his strong leadership skills will serve the University well going forward.
As vice president and chief financial officer, Heimburger is responsible for all business and finance operations of the University, including management of SLU's endowment, which is valued at approximately $850 million. He also is a member of the President's Executive Staff.
Heimburger joined SLU in 2009 as director of financial planning and budget. He was promoted to controller in January 2011.
In October 2011, he was named interim VP and CFO. In that role, he provided oversight of the University-wide budgetary process to ensure that it reflected SLU's mission and vision. Heimburger also has worked to strengthen the University's financial position through a focus on incremental revenue generation, expense management and improved operating efficiency.

Prior to joining SLU, Heimburger spent more than two decades at Anheuser-Busch and A-B InBev, where he served in multiple capacities, including executive assistant to the vice president and controller and senior manager of employee benefits.
A SLU alumnus, Heimburger earned his degree in business administration from the University in 1985. He also is a Certified Public Accountant.
The chief financial officer at SLU oversees a number of University departments and areas, including Audit Services, Budget and Planning, Controller, the Medical Center Finance Office, Parking and Card Services, Procurement, Real Estate, Risk Management, and Treasury and Investments. Auxiliary services, such as Chaifetz Arena, Hotel Ignacio and the West Locust Lofts, are other areas of oversight.
