Mev Puleo Scholarship Program Accepting Applications
The Department of Theological Studies will once again sponsor its two-month social justice and liberation theology immersion experience in Nicaragua this coming summer.
The Mev Puleo Scholarship Program in Latin American Theology, Politics and Culture is an intensive immersion experience in Nicaragua with a strong theological focus and an emphasis on social justice and cross-cultural exchange for six to eight undergraduate theology majors or minors. While applicants need to be at least a theology minor, many students are willing to make the commitment (it is only two classes beyond the College of Arts and Sciences theology requirement) in order to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
The first two weeks of the program include an intensive Spanish-language classroom course designed to prepare students for their homestays in Ciudad Sandino outside of Managua. Apart from master's-level theology courses (taught in Spanish), students will be placed in service-learning sites and travel to various locales throughout Nicaragua.
