This year's Cannonball Picnic will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, at the new Medical Center Stadium, located on the south end of the St. Louis campus. In the event of inclement weather, the picnic will be held at the Simon Recreation Center.
The picnic is held each year to recognize the contributions of SLU staff and gets its name from the battlefield injury suffered by St. Ignatius in 1521.
Attendants who registered before the Oct. 15 deadline are eligible to receive attendance prizes, including mp3 players, gift certificates to Pickleman's and two hours of free bowling and a Billiken Burger special for four at Moolah Lanes.
Shuttle service will run between the two ends of campus from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and reciprocal parking will be available in the Hickory West and Hickory East Garage.
To encourage a casual atmosphere at the event, staff may dress down that day if their work environment and schedule permits. Note that staff will not be required to use vacation hours or leave time to participate.
