Students considering a career in nursing and display leadership potential are encouraged to attend the Accelerated Generalist Masters of Science in Nursing Open House from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the School of Nursing Building. The Open House offers students an exciting opportunity to learn about both accelerated option programs and speak with nursing professors and current students.
The Accelerated Generalist Masters of Science in Nursing program is the first of its kind in the state of Missouri and is designed for individuals who are not registered nurses but have already earned a baccalaureate degree in another field.
Graduates of this 21-month program will earn a master's of science in nursing (MSN) and be prepared to sit for both the RN licensure exam and certification as a clinical nurse leader.
The clinical nurse leader is a fast emerging leadership role in the health care delivery system and will provide guidance at the point of care focusing on patient outcomes, risk assessment, quality improvement and interprofessional communication. The increasing number and range of opportunities available in nursing today and the excellent job market throughout the U.S. make the AGMSN the perfect second-degree option.
