Saint Louis University Connections Program
Kid's Connection to Social Skills
Kid's Connection to Social Skills integrates developmental and sensory based activities with social strategies, resulting in a dynamic friend making experience. Preschool and elementary school children enjoy a variety of activities including obstacle courses in our sensory gym, cooking, crafts, and games. To join this program, a $100 developmental evaluation or assessment is required, dependent on the child's therapy history. Summer programming includes eight morning sessions over two weeks.
Tween Connection to Social Skills and Social Competency
Tween Connection to Social Skills combines common interests of group members with specialized sensory and social approaches, resulting in a unique experience for each middle school participant. Age appropriate life skills are integrated into each session to confront common challenges of middle school years, and Tweens are encouraged to try new skills at home and in the community. To join this program, a $100 social skills assessment and interview are required along with the child's current IEP. Summer programming includes eight afternoon sessions over two weeks.
Teen Connection to Social Competency
Teen Connection to Social Competency provides a challenging, teen-focused experience each session. High school students enjoy sessions both on the St Louis University campus and in the community, such as pizza tossing, comedy improv, scavenger hunts and game nights. This program is based on Temple Grandin and Sean Barron's book, The Unwritten Rules of Social Relationships, and integrates 2 rules in each session. To join this program, a $100 social competency assessment and interview are required along with the teen's current IEP. Programming includes 6 sessions, once per week.
