The Department of Neurology and Psychiatry will host Grand Rounds from 8 to 9 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, in two locations.
Neurology Grand Rounds will be held in Lecture Hall 1 of Schwitalla Hall. Abhay Kumar, M.D. will present "Catastrophic Brain Injury."
Kumar is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from Patna Medical College in Patna, India, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Westlake Hospital, Ill., and a neurology residency at University of Florida College of Medicine. He joined SLUCare from his fellowship in neurocritical care at Washington University School of Medicine.
Board certified in psychiatry and neurology, Kumar is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Neurocritical Care Society. He is an attending physician at Saint Louis University Hospital and has clinical expertise in malignant ischemic stroke, intracranial and subarachnoid hemorrhages, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, status epilepticus and neuromuscular emergencies.
In addition to patient care and teaching responsibilities, Kumar has research interests in the outcome of various patient populations discharged from neurocritical care units. He cares for patients in the intensive care unit at Saint Louis University Hospital.
Psychiatry Grand Rounds will be held in classroom B-024 Monteleone Hall. K. Lynne Moritz, M.D., will present "The Sins of Our Fathers: Comments on the Aftermath of Sexual Boundary Violations." Moritz is faculty member and chair of Ethics Committee and Training and Supervising Analyst at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. She is a clinical professor in the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry.
