LIVE in Vietnam's largest city, in the core of the Mekong Delta. Visit all the various attractions like the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Binh Quoi Village, and Sam Sen Park.
EXPLORE the comercial, scientific, technological, industrial and tourist center of Vietnam. See buildings which represent a combination of Vietnamese, Chinese, and European cultures.
REFLECT on lessons you learn at your weekly service sites. Whether it is teaching English or working with local orgainizations, ruminate on the lessons gained.
Vietnam Study Center
Loyola University Chicago's semester program in Vietnam provides students with the opportunity to experience and learn about the social, cultural, political and economic dynamics shaping contemporary Vietnam. Students participating in this program will immerse themselves in Ho Chi Minh City through a service or internship placement while also having an opportunity to see much of the rest of Vietnam and Cambodia as well during academic excursions.
Four excursions per semester: tuition covers transportation, local hotels, several meals, and admissions fees
Students are housed in a guesthouse located in Ho Chi Minh City near campus. Students live in double occupancy room furnished with a private bathroom, small refrigerator, television and phone. The rooms are serviced daily and rooms are air conditioned by wall units. In addition to living in this metropolitan city, students will have an opportunity to room with a Vietnamese roommate. Get to learn the culture firsthand by interacting with your roommate and learn what makes Vietnam such a great country.
Students will enroll in 12 to 15 credit hours per semester.
Students are required to take SOCL 280 while studying at the Vietnam Center.
