Symantec Drive Encryption (PGP)
Saint Louis University will soon be rolling out Whole Disk Encryption software. The initial pilot will be licensing Symantec Drive Encryption (formerly PGP Desktop) for encryption of all SLU affiliate laptop computers that are used to access any SLU information. Symantec Drive Encryption creates a prompt that requires your SLU User ID and password to be entered just after the system is powered on. Without knowledge of your User ID and password, it is impossible for any unauthorized user to access any of the data on the entire disk drive, even if the drive is removed from the computer. Drive encryption can also be used on flash drives and other media that are used to store or transport confidential information.
