Center For Environmental Sciences
The Center for Environmental Sciences (CES) is directed by Dr. Jack Fishman (Earth and Atmospheric Sciences) and co-directed by Dr. Jason Knouft (Biology).
The mission of SLUs CES is to provide a research and educational environment that examines the interactions of the atmosphere, solid earth, hydrosphere, and biosphere, and how humans interact with these systems. CES creates opportunities for interdisciplinary research, funding, teaching, education, and outreach by connecting scholars from different disciplines, including earth and atmospheric sciences, biology, chemistry, public health, public policy, medicine, law, business, and economics at SLU as well as promoting collaborations with national and international institutions. CES also provides an environment for students and researchers to develop projects using intergrated global and regional geographic information systems (GIS) databases, field studies, and models.
