Richard Lee, M.D., MBA, has joined the faculty of Saint Louis University School of Medicine as a professor, a vice chair of surgery and co-director of the Center for Comprehensive Cardiovascular Care in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and his Master of Business Administration from Washington University John M. Olin School of Business. He completed his surgical residency at Rush Medical College of Rush University Medical Center, his cardiothoracic surgery residency at Washington University School of Medicine and his adult cardiac surgery and heart transplantation fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He joins SLUCare from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he was an associate professor of surgery, program director of the Divisions of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery and surgical director of the Center for Heart Rhythm disorders.
Board-certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Lee is a member of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Surgeons and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. Dr. Lee is an attending physician at Saint Louis University Hospital and has clinical expertise in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, valve disease, atrial fibrillation and coronary artery disease. In addition to patient care and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Lee has research interests in heart valve disease and arrhythmia.
