Mark Voigt, Ph.D., has been appointed interim associate dean for Research at Doisy College of Health Sciences. In this position, he will serve as a faculty research mentor and act as a liaison between researchers and University administrators, and will work closely with the vice president of Research.
Voigt joins the college from the School of Medicine where he is vice chair and professor in the Department of Pharmacological and Physiological Science. An engaged teacher, scholar and member of the academic community, Voigt has served on many internal and external committees including the Faculty Senate.
He has an extensive history of grantsmanship, including National Institutes of Health funding and maintains an active research lab in the School of Medicine. Voigt's lab focuses on the molecular and genetic basis of sensory signaling by the peripheral nervous system. He has authored or co-authored many scientific publications.
Voigt received his doctorate in pharmacology from Saint Louis University, his master of biochemistry degree from the University of Missouri and his bachelor's of the arts in chemistry from Central Methodist College.
