Pope Francis has called for a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, in the entire Mideast region and throughout the whole world to be held Saturday, Sept. 7. The Pope made the announcement during the course of remarks ahead of the traditional Angelus prayer Sunday, Sept. 8.
Since September 7 falls on a Saturday, the Department of Campus Ministry in the Division of Mission and Ministry, encourages the entire University community, including faculty and staff, to participate in this day of fasting and prayer for peace on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
On this day, Campus Ministry will host a "Mass in the Grass" at 9 p.m. on the quad near DuBourg Hall and the Griesedieck Complex and will pray for peace on the anniversary of September 11 and in response to Pope Francis' call.
Both the Reinert and Griesedieck Hall masses will suspend services in order to join this meaningful event. Michael May, S.J., will preside, and the homilist will be David Meconi, S.J.
Email Erin Schmidt at email@example.com for more information or to participate.
