- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
What is Magnetic Resonance Imaging?
Magnetic resonance imaging procedures use a large magnet and radio waves to create clear pictures of internal body structures. MRI provides excellent contrast between the different soft tissues of the body, and is especially useful in imaging the brain, spine, joints, muscles, and other structures. The images produced in MRI are of higher resolution compared with other medical imaging techniques, therefore allowing medical professionals to identify where physiological problems occur in the body.
What is an MRI Technologist?
A MRI technologist is primarily responsible for using MRI equipment to scan and capture images to aid in patient diagnosis. MRI technologists are educated and trained to work with patients to obtain high quality images in a safe and effective manner. Today, magnetic resonance imaging offers procedures that are helpful in a broad span of medical specialties, from pediatrics, to cardiology, to oncology.
