It's been a long, cold winter and, according to the ground hog, it's not quite over yet. But before you know it spring will fly by and it will be time to make summer plans for the kids.
From engineering to business and science to all sorts of indoor and outdoor sports and recreation camps, there is something for everyone, including: Gardens to Tables Culinary Camp where campers prepare a variety of meals and work with professional chefs; Camp Invention where students learn how to build for the future; and the Engineering and Aviation Camp where students participate in hands-on activities in aerospace and mechanical engineering, flight science and biomedical engineering.
New programs for junior high and high school students this summer include the Journalism and Documentary Film Academy; the Grand Theater Camp (in partnership with Metro Theater Company), the Introduction to Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Workshop and a variety of computer learning opportunities.
Swimming, volleyball and recreation camps also are part of the summer mix at SLU, including a basketball camp led by members of the Billiken's men's team. Another highlight is the Little Medicine program.
More than 10,000 participants took part in summer@slu in 2013. Visit summer.slu.edu to see photos and video of last year's events and a full list of 2014 programs. Registration is underway now.
