Students participating in the Interprofessional Education Program course 490, as part of their practicum project, are seeking to fulfill the needs of the Peter and Paul Community Services Emergency Shelter.
Peter and Paul Community Services Emergency Shelter serves men in the St. Louis Community by offering a safe place to sleep for 90 consecutive days. The men are able to store their belongings in lockers, obtain dinner and breakfast, connect to community resources and have a safe, warm place to sleep. These men have limited access to laundry and are in constant need of clean undergarments including socks and underwear (preferably size L or XL).
The team is collecting men's socks, underwear and laundry detergent. The project will also incorporate an educational component to further the men's understanding of basic hygiene, diabetes and other health needs of the site. Monetary donations will also be accepted to aid in the purchase of these necessities.
Donations may be delivered to the Dean's Office of the Doisy College of Health Sciences, the Occupational Therapy Department in AHP 2020, or to the Student Success Center.
