Sunny skies and comfortable temperatures welcomed runners and walkers to this year's Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure. Of the 30,000+ participants, 516 represented the Saint Louis University Cancer Center Team in collaboration with WIL's Team Breadhead. The effort raised $19,000 for breast health programs and breast cancer research. The majority of funds will remain here in St. Louis to benefit local women.
Team members sporting SLU-blue T-shirts enjoyed the VIP treatment at SLU's Midtown Village, located at Chaifetz Arena just past the balloon arches on Compton Avenue. There, participants could relax in the shade, sample a snow cone, pose for a playful photo, or move to the beat provided by WIL's Dereoke mobile music van. The SLU Billiken was on hand, cheering on the crowds along the race route, while WIL morning radio hosts Cornbread and Judi Diamond mingled with team members inside the Village.
Saint Louis University Cancer Center thanks all team participants, volunteers and sponsors who made this year's event unforgettable. See photos from the day on Facebook.
