Research Overview |
|
The Brown Lab researches the critical role of the self in social behavior. Within this theme, we have two primary lines of research: (1) The nature and structure of the self-concept (e.g., self-complexity, dynamic changes in active self-aspects), and (2) the self in relation to others (e.g., social inclusion and exclusion, how parasocial relationships affect the self). |

About the name Most other labs at Saint Louis University are named after the research topic, so why the “Brown Lab”? Two reasons: (1) Lab names are posted outside the lab, and because our research often involves deception we do not want to give participants too much information about what we study (which a topic-based named might do). (2) Without this name, a chocolate Labrador could not be our mascot!
