Software Downloads & Discounts

Saint Louis University Information Technology Services provides certain software online for faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students at no cost or at a discount.  

With a valid SLU Net ID and password, you have access to the certain software, free of charge.

Microsoft Office 365

SLU offers free Microsoft Office University 365 licenses to faculty, staff and students. The licenses are valid for the extent of your professional and/or academic career.

Download Instructions

To obtain your free copy of Microsoft 365:

  • Go to office.com.
  • Click "Sign In" in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Type in your SLU email address, including the @slu.edu portion.
  • Click the "Organizational Account" option, if prompted.
  • Type your SLU password.
  • Scroll down and click "Install."

You will need to sign into your Office Subscription, once the software has installed.

Signing In 
  • From the Welcome to Office dialogue box, select "Sign Into an Existing Subscription."
  • Enter your SLU email address and SLU password
  • Click "Next"
  • Click "Organizational Account"
  • Click "Finish"

Billiken Print Pop-Up Client Student-owned Mac OS X and Windows operating systems Billiken Printing allows students to print to any of the 15+ printers on campus. Billiken Printing costs 10 cents a page and uses Billiken Bucks as the payment method.

Faculty and staff

 

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) for SLU faculty and staff that provides secure remote access to network resources on SLU Net. Faculty and staff must first request access through mySLU, which will need to be approved before the software can be downloaded.
IDX VPN Client

This client is only available if you are an authorized IDX VPN user and have been granted an account.
EndNote Faculty, staff and students (for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems)

Bibliography software that allows users to import citations from online bibliographic databases, organize references, images and PDFs, and create bibliographies.

Respondus is a tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to a Blackboard Learn course.

To request Respondus for a University-owned computer, please contact the IT Service Desk at 314-977-4000.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Faculty, staff and students (for personal and work computers) Symantec Endpoint Protection helps protect your computer and helps prevent your computer from being used to pass viruses to other machines without your knowledge. ITS offers Symantec software for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
wePresent MirrorOp Software Students, faculty and staff  These installations files are provided to students, faculty and staff for installation on personal (non university managed computers). For installation of a managed version of this software, please contact the IT Service Desk at 314-977-4000.
 

Discounts for Personal Purchases

As a SLU faculty member, staff member or student, you are eligible to receive software and hardware discounts. These discounts vary based on special promotions from each company, and each vendor has specific ways to receive SLU's discount.

Software Discounts

Atlas Ti

This alternative stats program is available for university purposes on University-owned or personal machines. The University has purchased a set number of Atlas.ti licenses that ITS is able to resell to faculty, staff and students for personal machines. These licenses are purchased on an annual basis.

  • This year's dates are Feb. 5, 2018-Feb. 4, 2019, regardless of your actual date of purchase
  • The price is $85

The Process

  • Payment of the $85 per license can be made in-person in the Academic Tech Commons in thevPius Library first floor, or online through the SLU Marketplace. Upon proper receipt, ITS will install or update the license for you.
  • To obtain the full installer, you will need to bring either a flash drive 2GB or larger, your computer, or you will need purchase a flash drive from the center to obtain the software. The flash drive media kit costs starts at $10.
  • To obtain just the license file to update an already installed software, you will need to bring either a small flash drive, your computer or elect to have the license file emailed to you.

SAS

This stats program is available for university purposes on University-owned or personal machines. The University has purchased a set number of SAS licenses that ITS is able to resell to University departments. These licenses are purchased on an annual basis.

  • The price is $125 for individual license

The Process 

  • Payment of the $125 per license can be made in-person in the Academic Tech Center in the Pius Library first floor, or online through the SLU Marketplace. Upon proper receipt, ITS will install or update the license for you.
  • To obtain the full installer, you will need to bring either a flash drive 20 GB or larger, your computer, or you will need purchase a flash drive from the center to obtain the software.The flash drive media kit costs starts at $25.
  • To obtain just the license file to update an already installed software, you will need to bring either a small flash drive, your computer, or elect to have the license file emailed to you.

This stats program is available for academic research purposes on University-owned or personal machines only. The University has purchased a set number of SPSS licenses that ITS is able to resell to University departments. These licenses are purchased on an annual basis.

  • Obtaining SPSS after purchase: Within two to three business days of receiving the receipt, ITS will provide you the download link and license code in an email.

By going through the HP Academy store for SLU, you will typically receive a 10 percent discount on your purchase.
