Created by our students, the Oath of Inclusion sets forth the expectation that all SLU students will work to promote inclusion while they are studying here. It also establishes — in writing — the expectation that all SLU students will embrace the inherent dignity of each person.
Consisting of faculty, staff, students and administrators, SLU's President's Diversity Council has been charged by the president with recommending and promoting policies, practices and programs that foster effective participation in a diverse and inclusive community.
Taking its cue from the Latin word for care, Cura is a program designed to foster a more supportive and collaborative work environment. Cura also articulates standards for behavior in the workplace and recognizes individuals who consistently live those values.
SLU's Cross Cultural Center promotes multicultural awareness and supports students from underrepresented populations.
Through education and awareness, the Safe Zone program helps to create a more accepting atmosphere by providing a support system — including safe spaces on campus — for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community at SLU.
SLU offers two interfaith sacred spaces on campus that are open to students, faculty and staff of any faith tradition or of no faith tradition as quiet environments to meditate, pray, rest and rejuvenate. The spaces may also be reserved for prayer or worship services, group reflections or dialogues, and meditation sessions.
We have a number of student groups that seek to foster a more diverse campus community at SLU. These chartered organizations are open to students from all backgrounds.
