Saint Louis University has launched a national search for our next dean of libraries and museums. The dean of libraries and museums bears the responsibility of guiding Saint Louis University and its libraries in improving and investing in student experiences, educational delivery, and advancing research and scholarship.
About the Dean of Libraries and Museums Role
SLU's libraries help shape the mission and role of the university by providing resources to support a transformational education and the continued pursuit of truth for the service of humanity. The dean of libraries and museums will partner with and cultivate relationships with Saint Louis University and the greater St. Louis communities to enhance visibility of the libraries, fundraise, and create opportunities for the students and faculty.
The dean of libraries and museums will act as a strong leader, visible connector and resourceful innovator. They will display a drive to ask innovative questions and imagine what’s next to advance the vision for the Saint Louis University libraries and museums.
The Search Process
The search will be conducted by a diverse committee, chaired by Gary Ritter, Ph.D., dean of the Saint Louis University School of Education. The search committee will seek candidates who demonstrate exceptional passion for their work, understand the responsibilities of the role, and are wise in their decision making and communication with partners. The committee will narrow a diverse pool of highly qualified applicants down to a small number of finalists to be interviewed for the position.
Interested candidates should submit materials through the Saint Louis University Division of Human Resources:
Letters can be addressed to Search Committee Chair Gary W. Ritter. Applications should include a statement of interest (i.e. cover letter), current curriculum vitae, and the names of three references (with email addresses and phone numbers). The search committee will begin reviewing applications on April 15, 2022. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Hour-long interviews with the search committee will be conducted over Zoom.
Full day in-person campus interviews will be conducted with finalist candidates. Candidates will have the opportunity to interact with potential future colleagues.
