Major: Theology and Philosophy

Why I chose SLU: "I was initially drawn to SLU by its Catholic and Jesuit identity. On my first tour of SLU, I found a community that was rooted in love for one another and truly strives to live out the Jesuit mission of their University. It was apparent that students here were people first and that if I came, I would be deeply cared for — not only by my friends but also my professors and school administrators. I felt that here I would grow and develop into whom God was calling me to be. This is why I first chose and why I continue to choose SLU."

Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee
Major: Neuroscience (pre-med)
Minors: Women's and Gender Studies, Philosophy, Urban Poverty Studies
Why I chose SLU: "I wasn’t very picky when looking for schools, and SLU checked all of my boxes. I was down between two schools, and what really set SLU apart was the sense of community. Walking around on campus and getting to spend the night with a current student gave me a glimpse into the loving and inviting atmosphere SLU creates. After coming to SLU I found that this environment exists everywhere on campus: classes, residence halls and extracurriculars. Most of this is due to the passion our students bring to everything we do. I chose SLU for the community and stayed for the lifelong friendships."

Mi'Angila Graham

Mi'Angila Graham

Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Major: Accounting
Minor: Political Science
Why I chose SLU: "The summer prior to beginning my studies at SLU, I went on a Sibcation (Sibling Vacation) to Washington D.C. While visiting the Smithsonian, I encountered an individual wearing a SLU shirt. Being the shy person I am, my older brother waved this individual down and asked them to tell us about their experience as a SLU student. To my delight, the individual had nothing but wonderful things to say about the University and provided me with contact information for when I arrived on campus in the Fall. While my decision to go to SLU initially was primarily academic, this encounter assured me that I was joining a community I will forever be grateful for."

Juliana Menichiello

Juliana Menichiello

Hometown: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Major: Marketing
Minor: Spanish
Why I chose SLU: "My oldest sister went to SLU, and I visited her multiple times. I was unsure about coming here at first because her and I look and sound the same. However, when I took an official tour of the university and did an overnight with a Billiken Buddy, I realized SLU was the right fit for me as well. I chose SLU because of its mission to educate the whole person so we become 'men and women for and with others.' I love how SLU emphasizes that we are not only supposed to take care of and support our immediate SLU community and family, but take what we learned throughout our years at the institution and share it with the world."
