SLU 101 Summer Orientation 2020 will still occur to provide information to students and families to support them in the transition process to Saint Louis University. For safety and concern for all we have decided to move the summer orientation program to an online experience. The program will be a three-phase approach for students and a two-phase approach for parents and families.
Student Experience for SLU 101 - Freshmen and Transfer Students
Students must still sign up for a SLU 101 session since we will still have a portion of the program conducted virtually through live Zoom sessions. Please note there is a maximum capacity of how many students we can manage per session, and we cannot add students to sessions.
SLU 101 Summer Orientation 2020 has three phases:
Self-Paced Pre-SLU 101: Prior to the student’s live, virtual SLU 101 session, the student will receive information for a self-paced Pre-SLU 101 online experience. Students are required to complete the online orientation modules prior to their live, virtual SLU 101 session to assure they will receive an academic advising appointment during their live SLU 101 session. Students must complete these online orientation modules three days in advance of “attending” the live SLU 101 session.
Live, Virtual SLU 101 Session: Students will receive information on how to participate with the live, virtual Zoom sessions for the session date they signed up for. The live, virtual program will be a modified schedule. For freshmen, we will be conducting the live portion across the two days of the session they signed up for; for transfers, we will conduct the live portion during the one day of their session date.
Self-Paced Post-SLU 101: Students will receive more information through the online orientation platform. Students will be informed of when to go back in to complete the final modules to help them prepare for August.
Parent and Family Experience for SLU 101
Parents and guardians will not attend the SLU 101 sessions this summer with their students but will receive information through an online platform to complete online modules on your own time and at your own pace. The link to the online platform will be emailed out to parents and guardians by mid-June.
Parent Zoom Sessions
In addition to the online modules, parents and guardians were invited to participate in a variety of real-time virtual presentations on topics such as campus safety, student health, academic support and more. Recordings of this summer's parent SLU 101 presentations are available in the SLU101: Parent Presentations YouTube Playlist.
