A Message From Dean Higgins
Dear Chaifetz School of Business Alumni,
On May 17, the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business celebrated commencement as more
than 400 students walked across the stage at Chaifetz Arena. It was the culmination
of years of hard work for our graduates and an exciting year here at the Chaifetz
School. In 2018-2019, we saw:
- U.S. News & World Report rank the Chaifetz School a best business school in the country to study undergraduate accounting (#28), entrepreneurship (#18), finance (#44) and international business (#11) and graduate accounting (#35), entrepreneurship (#13), international business (#9) and supply chain management (#13).
- Our faculty continue to shape the future of business with their leading research, with Professors Bera, Carlson, Kelting and Tang publishing in the top academic journals in their fields and Associate Professor Brad Carlson receiving the 2019 Excellence in Research Award from the American Marketing Association;
- The first cohort graduated from our revamped one-year MBA program that integrates the curriculum across business disciplines and equips graduates with in-demand data analytics skill. As a requirement of the program, teams of students completed a 10-week practicum project at local companies (e.g., Ameren, Anheuser-Busch Employees Credit Union) utilizing the data analytics skills acquired in the program and
- Attendance at our Edward Jones Dean’s Breakfast Series events grew to exceed 1,500 - averaging more than 300 alumni, business leaders and students at five events with the help of a new partnership with St. Louis Public Radio.
Thanks to the generosity of our alumni, friends and corporate partners, we were able to expand opportunities for Service Leadership students, secure initial funding for upgrades to student spaces in Cook and Davis-Shaughnessy Halls and endow several new scholarships this year. Whether you made a gift, served as a SLUvisor mentor, completed a U.S. News alumni survey or attended a Chaifetz School event, I want to thank you for your support in 2018-2019. It was truly a remarkable year.
As we prepare over the coming months to welcome #BusinessBillikens class of 2023, we hope that you will have the opportunity to spend time with your family and friends.
All the best,Mark Higgins, Ph.D.
Edward Jones Dean
