A Message From Dean Peggy Ellis
Hello, Everyone!
A new year is under way here at the School of Nursing. This year started without Dean Teri Murray, who stepped down from the dean position and is on a one-year sabbatical. We wish her a good year and a successful new beginning continuing her career in nursing.
I have assumed the role as the interim dean for one year while a national search is conducted for a permanent dean. Previously, I was an associate dean in the School of Nursing and am excited to have returned to be a part of one of the best nursing schools in the country! Dean Tom Burroughs of the School for Public Health and Social Justice is leading the dean search committee. We have already received many applications and will soon be interviewing. Of course, Dr. Murray is a difficult act to follow, but we are looking forward to moving ahead.
The new year kicked off with the naming of the school. We are now the Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing. Trudy Busch Valentine is an alumna and a very generous and steadfast supporter of our school. It is an honor to have her name connected to the school and to the quality programs we offer. Our thanks to Mrs. Valentine for her generosity.
We hope you will continue to be a part of the school and its activities. We consider each of you lifetime members of our family. Please keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Peggy Ellis, R.N., Ph.D.
Interim Dean
