Calculate your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). That will help you determine how much money you'll need in college financial aid.
Apply for college scholarships.
Accepted? Pay your University deposit.
File this year's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Make sure you have your college or university's code. Saint Louis University's FAFSA school code is 002506.
Watch for your Student Aid Report — it will summarize your FAFSA information and will reiterate your estimated family contribution.
Get an accurate estimate what it will cost to attend college each semester — including living expenses and costs associated with your major — online. At SLU, you can find an estimate at finaid.slu.edu/costs.
Determine how to pay for any remaining balance not yet covered by financial aid, including expenses relating to living and books. Learn more about the five types of financial aid.
Accept/decline financial aid awards at your university or college.
Apply for student loans.
If you have accepted a Perkins or Stafford Loan, complete the online Master Promissory Note.
Apply for work study positions.
Enroll in the university health insurance plan, or sign a health insurance waiver if you already have health insurance.
Review your tuition bill. If needed, enroll in a payment plan.
