Saint Louis University

The Mission Statement of the University forms the foundation for the first introductory 100 level course in theology.

The selection of a second course on the 200 level engages the student in a specific theological discipline in view of its "Catholic, Jesuit identity" and thereby prepares the student for a 300 level course that applies "its intellectual and ethical heritage to work for the good of society as a whole." These 300 level offerings pursue questions of justice, cultural diversity, inter-religious dialogue and applications of theology to a diversity of majors.

For theology majors the 400 level courses are important. These 400 level courses cultivate research skills as preparation for graduate school or provide assistance for students preparing for teaching in secondary schools or in various forms of ministry.

The 500 and 600 level courses serve two graduate programs, the MA in theology and the PhD in historical theology.
