Letter from the Vice President
In my role at the University, I have the privilege of working with a staff of exceptional educators who are dedicated to student success. Student Development staff are committed to supporting students, as well assisting students' families, SLU staff and faculty, and friends of the University, through our many programs and services which foster a dynamic environment for effective interaction, development and learning.
The programs and services we offer are extensive and continually evolving. A state-of-the-art recreation center, expanding cross cultural and international centers, updated residence halls and apartments, newly renovated dining areas, and the Center for Service and Community Engagement are among the many significant offerings that make a SLU experience exceptional.
Two full service Student Success Centers (one on the Frost Campus and one at the Medical Center), 13 residential Learning Communities serving nearly 800 students, and over 23 First Year Interest Groups demonstrate our commitment to integrative learning and development. We strive to ensure that out-of-class experiences and activities complement and extend the formal learning that occurs in academic courses.
Wellness ("mind, body, heart, and spirit") initiatives; health and counseling resources; education on student rights and responsibilities; leadership programs; advising, academic support, career development; First Year Experience programs and welcome events; more than 120 chartered student organizations and clubs; and numerous co-curricular programs and activities highlight SLU's campus and our commitment to engaging students. At SLU, we are focused on developing students as "whole" persons and helping them capitalize on their great potential. With this vision in mind, we are dedicated to making the student experience at SLU the very best it can be. Thank you for being part of our Billiken family and welcome to SLU.
