Saint Louis University's undergraduate degree in investigative and medical sciences (IMS) provides you with a strong foundation in basic sciences and medically related coursework. Offered by SLU's Doisy College of Health Sciences, the IMS degree is designed mainly as a preparatory degree for post-baccalaureate studies, especially medical school.
If you choose to major in investigative and medical sciences at SLU, you will benefit from a uniquely flexible curriculum, which includes credit hours for a specialized area of concentration. You will take basic sciences that are pre-med level, as well as courses in various areas of diagnostic medicine.

What You'll Learn in SLU's Investigative and Medical Sciences Program
Saint Louis University's investigative and medical sciences program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours for degree completion. A core of liberal arts courses complements strong basic science and medical courses.
SLU's IMS curriculum also includes a minimum of 24 credit hours in an area of concentration of your choice. These hours may be applied to a minor or certificate, including minors in biology or health care ethics and certificates in health information management, or a second bachelor's degree such as forensic science.
