Information Security during Tax Season
Tax-related phishing emails, phone fraud, and fraudulent filings are common every tax season.
Good security practices such as using two-factor authorization when available, not using the same user ID and password for numerous accounts, limiting the sharing of your private information, and ignoring phishing emails could reduce your chances of tax fraud and identity theft.
If you or someone you know have fallen victim to tax fraud, please contact the local police, the IRS and visit StopFraud.gov. Additional information is provided from the Washington Post, CNBC, Idtheft.about.com, and OnGuardOnline.gov.
