Copyright Infringement Notice Procedure

First Offense

  • ITS&C emails the student informing him or her of the infringement notice, and the necessary procedures for responding to the allegations; carbon copy Office of Student Conduct
  • Student will be required to:
    • Remove the offending material from their computer and discontinue illegal file sharing activities
    • View online educational videos, read resource material and successfully complete quiz about Copyright Infringement.
    • Fill out Google Form that states that they have completed the 2 items listed above
    • Attend a hearing with Student Conduct

Second Offense

  • ITS&C emails the student informing him or her of the infringement notice, and the necessary procedures for responding to the allegations; carbon copy Office of Student Conduct
  • Student will be required to:
    • Remove the offending material from their computer and discontinue illegal file sharing activities
    • View online educational videos, read resource material and successfully complete quiz about Copyright Infringement.
    • Fill out Google Form that states that they have completed the 2 items listed above
    • Attend a hearing with Student Conduct
  • Upon completion, ITS will restore the student's internet access

Third Offense

  • ITS&C emails the student informing him or her of the infringement notice, and the necessary procedures for responding to the allegations; carbon copy Office of Student Conduct
  • ITS disconnects the students internet access and forwards notification to Residence Hall Director
  • Student will be required to:
    • Remove the offending material from their computer and discontinue illegal file sharing activities
    • View online educational videos, read resource material and successfully complete quiz about Copyright Infringement.
    • Fill out Google Form that states that they have completed the 2 items listed above
    • Attend a hearing with Student Conduct to determine further consequences
