Staff Service Day

In the spirit of  "setting the world on fire," staff members at Saint Louis University are invited to take part  a service day that leads up to the University’s traditional staff celebration, Cannonball Picnic.

This year's event will be held on Monday, Oct. 21st.

How to Take Part

In order to participate, departments and divisions must designate a contact person to make arrangements for the entire unit and to register their group. An on-site service opportunity will also take place on North and South Campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of service projects will we be doing?

That's up to each unit. There will be an on-campus project on both the North and South campuses.  If groups wish to organize their own site, they can do so using suggestions provided by the Center for Service and Community Engagement.  See form for more details.

Will transportation be provided to and from the service sites?
No. Volunteers are encouraged to carpool to their service site.
Can I leave directly from the service site?

Staff and faculty are welcome to go home after they complete their service.

Will breakfast/lunch be provided?

Formal meals will not be provided. Participating units are encouraged to coordinate sack lunches, potlucks and other team-bonding time prior to their departure for the service site.

What is the schedule for the day?
Since participating units are responsible for arranging their own service sites, there is no one set schedule for the service day.
Will I still be paid for the day as usual?
As these groups are intact working units, departments, or divisions, this is considered a team building experience in line with the University’s strategic plan and done on paid time for all employees.
